Forrest City, located in St. Francis County, gives you the best of two worlds. On the one hand, there is a friendly small town atmosphere and a low cost of living you will find easy on your budget. On the other hand, the locale offers easy access larger cities nearby such as Memphis, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas.
Excellent schools are available in Forrest City. Additionally, two schools for post secondary education, East Arkansas Community College and Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute, are situated on beautiful campuses at the edge of town.
Recreational opportunities are superb. Our area boasts a couple of the hottest fishing lakes in Arkansas. Plus, Village Creek State Park, Arkansas' largest, is only a 15 minute drive along Highway 284. This highway was recently designated a scenic by-way as the Crowley's Ridge Parkway. The park offers comfortable cabins, campsites, beautiful lakes, challenging hiking trails, and a 27-hole golf course and lodge.
Forrest City Little Theater provides opportunities for those who enjoy the theater arts and usually produces a minimum of two productions annually, either choral performances or plays.
Forrest City is located on a fascinating geological formation known as Crowley's Ridge. Though the city is situated about 35 miles from the majestic Mississippi River, amid acres of rich Delta farmland, this formation lends interest to the landscape, providing rolling hills and dramatic changes in elevation. Many of the residential neighborhoods are enhanced by the beauty of this formation and have utilized it to create lovely in-town lakes.
Quaint decorator shops and antique stores sell furniture, gifts and collectibles, while both upscale and moderately priced clothing can be purchased locally. For the budget-conscious, there are several high quality resale shops.
For the sports minded, the city prides itself on having two challenging golf courses, a sports complex and ample woods and lakes for the deer or duck hunter. A number of annual events like the Mightymite Triathlon mark special times of the year, and provide runners and other athletes special opportunities to showcase their skills.
