Forrest City residents never worry about health care needs with Forrest City Medical Center located at 1601 Newcastle Road in Forrest City. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. FCMC offers a broad range of services including surgical specialists, a level II nursery, coronary and intensive care services, a level III emergency room, diagnostics such as CT scan, mammography, ultrasound and nuclear medicine, and much more. It is the regional medical center in a six-county area. It has a 118 bed capacity, with 18 given to the geriatrics and psychiatry unit, and six to intensive care. It has a 24-hour physician staffed emergency room and a hospital based on paramedic ambulance service. Referrals are made to Memphis area specialists who see patients at the FCMC facility. HOMECARE AND HOSPICE
FCMC also offers homecare and hospice. Homecare offers skilled compassionate services for home visits to help speed recovery. Hospice is a special way for caring for those with a terminal illness. Hospice specializes in care, not cure. There is also Crittenden Hospital Home Health that serves the area in home health care for the sick or injured of our community. OTHER MEDICAL SERVICES
Dentists, physicians and surgeons, chiropractors, optometrists, and are all available for your health care needs. There are six pharmacies available for your prescription needs. A list of these can be found in your local telephone directory. NURSING HOMES
The Nursing Homes in Forrest City are comprised of Crestpark Retirement Inn and Crestpark of Forrest City. The two homes provide skilled care as an option for their residents. These facilities are both located on Kittel Road. Counseling Services of Eastern Arkansas, also located in town, provides mental health services to the six county area. It offers individual and family counseling, outpatient day treatment, and crisis intervention. The office is located at 1825 East Broadway Street, phone (870) 633-0124. A local crisis line is also available. The St. Francis County Health Unit, offers family planning, maternity care, immunizations, WIC, and EPSDT, which provides total assessment to Medicaid recipients. Their office is located at 413 North Division, phone (870) 633-1340. The Department of Human Services, located at 1200 East Broadway assists qualified persons with Medicaid, Food Stamps, and TEA. Disabled persons who have to be admitted to nursing homes are covered through this department with Medicaid coverage. Children and Family Services, also a part of DHS, offers support services for children and families such as foster care, protective services, and adoption services. The Area IX Health Office, located at 1501 Dawson Road, offers local health education classes such as CPR, Stress Management and Conflict Resolution. East Arkansas Agency on Aging provides many services for our senior citizens. These programs are designed to insure the elderly have the care they need and deserve. This agency provides an adult day care for senior citizens. These citizens are provided with a noon meal plus two snacks every Monday through Friday. They also participate in cultural activities, physical exercise, and parties for special occasions. home |
